Cordelia Chase tries to be a good person.

It can be a hard thing to do in today’s world. You hear all the time how rife with temptation the world is, and how it’s easy to fall down the path of degradation and bad, and how to end up a loser sleeping in your parent’s basement with really terrible hair. Your actions have consequences. Social karma is very real, and Cordelia does her best to keep her karma up as high as it can go. She only dates the popular boys, always makes sure she’s dressed in the latest trends, and never ever associates herself with undesirables.

In fact, she’ll even go so far as to take the socially awkward and pathetically new under her wing, and show them a whole new world of popularity. It’s the least she can do. Popularity is her gift, but it is also her curse, in which she is obligated to share with the less fortunate.

Regardless, she tries to be a good person. She swept poor, unfortunate Buffy Summers under her wing, tried to show her the error of her ways, and what did that get her? Shoved up against a brick wall outside the Bronze with a hand to her throat and a broken piece of wood aimed at her heart. She may have been willing to give her a second chance after the whole Willow fiasco, but now?

No, now she is officially done.

“Excuse me, I now have to call everyone I’ve ever met.”

Buffy Summers? Enjoy your downward mobility. Cordelia will most certainly not be joining you.
